Biodiesel Plants

A new industry is on the move, and ASI Industrial will not be standing idle. Already, ASI Industrial has been chosen as the engineer/constructor for several biodiesel plants. These plants have not yet been completed.

ASI Industrial can provide total turnkey solutions starting from idea and process design, encompassing crushing and refining, and ending with full scale production that meets all quality standards. Alternatively, if the customer has already selected a biodiesel technology provider, ASI Industrial can close the gap between the design and equipment provided by other biodiesel technology providers and the end user. ASI Industrial will provide structural engineering, site layout, electrical engineering, automated control systems, equipment installation and the construction of all necessary structures and infrastructure.

ASI Industrial has constructed plants very similar in nature to the crushing plants for biodiesel and has been involved with projects involving very similar processes evidenced in biodiesel refining.

Ethanol Plants

ASI Industrial has embraced this future fuel source and its enormous potential for good in the United States. ASI Industrial built its first ethanol plant in 1993, and continues its involvement today. ASI Industrial not only provides process design and engineering, but ASI Industrial' crews construct the plant and undertake startup of the operation.

ASI Industrial built its first plant in a niche market area, an area with a lot of corn and cattle next door, allowing the distillers grains to go out wet to the cattle and receive all the corn they need by truck. With time the design of ethanol plants is changing, and ASI Industrial has been changing with the times. Plants are getting larger and more efficient. ASI Industrial continues to improve their design and efficiencies to meet the demands of their many new clients. Some ethanol projects have become integrated with other energy plants, such as coal fired steam and electricity generation, biodiesel production, biomass gas production, etc. ASI Industrial can help provide the best energy alternatives and design for each plant.

Cement Applications

ASI Industrial has constructed different projects involving cement storage and movement. ASI Industrial crews have built concrete silos and installed diverse types of cement conveying equipment for a number of applications.

A recent project involved a rail to truck cement terminal, which included concrete silo storage, slip form concrete support/stair tower, interior inverted concrete cone for better homogenization and dual truck loading bays.

Cogeneration

Cogeneration plants have started dotting the countryside in response to the nation’s appetite for energy both for providing electricity to homes as well as to provide steam/electricity to industrial production plants of all natures. ASI Industrial has been involved in wood waste power plant projects as well as other fuel sources. Our crews and design team have taken on various stages of these projects, including demolition and relocations, new raw product storage system, raw product crushing prior to burn, refurbishing, product handling, etc.

A featured industry project undertaken by ASI Industrial involved a major expansion to an almost 100 MW cogeneration facility. This power plant burned petroleum coke, a waste product from the petroleum industry. ASI Industrial designed and constructed a large storage and crushing system for a different type of coke than the plant originally utilized. The project featured a 30,000 ton storage building, product dewatering design, crushing from 5" to ¾" minus, rail receiving, and all product conveying systems.

Coal Fired Power

Both as a builder of concrete silos and as a millwright company, ASI Industrial has been able to work on coal fired power plant projects. ASI Industrial is capable of design and construction of each type of coal storage systems, conveying systems, and crushing. Additionally, the ASI Industrial team has been involved in installation and relocations of entire power plants.

A recent coal fired power plant project included demolition and reinstallation of a 28 megawatt coal fired power plant. This plant involved the dismantling of a stoker type boiler as well as the building and turbine/generator. The plant was then retrofitted with new environmental controls, new coal storage and a new coal injection system to the boiler.

Commercial Buildings

Part and parcel to every project is structures. Structures take on many shapes and purposes with most ASI Industrial projects. From equipment support towers, storage buildings and office buildings, to processing structures and others, ASI Industrial designs, engineers, and constructs the structures - both concrete and steel. And, the taller the structure the more it fits our niche.

ASI Industrial has had the opportunity to utilize these niche skills on various commercial building projects. For example, a new air traffic control tower near Glacier National Park. This structure involved a welded steel structure standing more than 100' in height, complete with all phases of commercial construction.

Concrete Ready Mix

Storing, conveying, batching, and mixing of products are processes involved in most ASI Industrial projects. Concrete ready mix plants were a natural evolution of the ASI Industrial team skills. Concrete storage for aggregates, conveying systems, mixing systems, etc.; all of these are also in the ASI Industrial skill set.

The following illustrates a project in the Port of San Francisco. The customer needed the ability to receive sands and aggregates from barges due to the limited supply of these products in the region. Additionally, the customer desired a storage system that wouldn&rsquo't wear out in just a few years or require constant maintenance. ASI Industrial gave them what they needed in the form of eight large aggregate units constructed entirely of slip form concrete. ASI Industrial was also involved in several other portions of the project.
